Product Description Wii (pronounced 'we') is Nintendo's new home video game console that represents a radical step into a new era of entertainment. For years, video games have been growing in popularity but also in complexity. With Wii, Nintendo changes the way you play by maximising the fun and minimising the fuss. The Wii console makes you feel less like a player and more like you're in the game. Frenzied sword battles are no longer confined to pushing a button. With Wii's unique Wii Remote controller, Nintendo puts you in the middle of the action. Forget about pushing a button to start a golf backswing. Wii lets you swing the club! Don't push a button to swing a sword, actually swing the sword. Video games have always been a part of you, now you get to be a part of them. Step up to the next level of gaming. Over time, gaming has become overwhelming to people. The Wii console returns gaming to simpler times while innovating game development at the same time. The unique Wii Remote gives parents and grandparents a chance to play games with their children. It gives gamers and traditional non-gamers a chance to share the same experiences in this new generation of gaming. For those who grew up with video games, Wii shows that games have not outgrown them.
Amazon.co.uk Review - Wii Sports In a nutshell: As if the idea of five games in one package didn't sound a good enough deal on its own the Wii's best multiplayer compendium comes free with the console. The lowdown: Clearly realising that they need to provide some quick and obvious reasons why the Wii Remote is such a good idea Nintendo have packed in this compilation with the console, which includes simple versions of tennis, golf, baseball, bowling and boxing. The four player tennis game is the obvious stand out as you swing the Remote exactly as you would a real tennis racket, with the game seeming to almost magically interpret your movements into the game. All the other games work in a similar way, as you hold the Remote like a golf club or ready it like a baseball bat - you can even use it to gently roll bowling bowls and add some subtle aftertouch. The graphics make be purposefully basic but these are the games to instantly prove why the Wii is going to be such a revolution. Most exciting moment: While even Wii Tennis can be played with very minor movements of the Wii Remote the boxing game actively encourages you to act things out properly. You hold up both the Remote and the nunchuck to simulate your two hands and then duck and weave as you switch between trying to pummel your opponent and dodging or blocking their own attacks. Since you ask: You can use your own customised Mii Channel character in any of the games for that personal touch. The idea was originally just a joke featuring caricatures of Nintendo's top brass for a press conference, but it proved so popular that Nintendo ensured anyone could make their own character to play with. The bottom line: Five of the best games on the Wii and they all come free with the console!-HARRISON DENT

Wii console January 24, 2010 Mr. M. W. Wabe (UK) It lives up to all the blurb and hype. It is expensive and sometimes hard to find at a reasonable price, but do keep looking. The whole family has had hours of fun.
Nintendo - unique! January 21, 2010 R.B (UK) I have always owned a Nintendo and even though Nintendo wasn't successful with its GameCube - they pulled it off with this fabulous new console - Wii.
The first time I used this system (when it first came out) with Wii sports it was so fun I went to buy extra Wii motes and Wii Nunchucks to invite my friends over.
It's fun for the older generation as well as the younger generation too. As soon as I got my console and showed my friends - eventually they were desperate to get theirs too.
Now we all play online with games such as Mario Kart.
The build quality of the wii is fantastic and its a very nice size to fit anywhere - like a little book. The design is very futuristic and looks great.
The playability is great with the right games and the Wii Sports supplied with the Wii really shows its potential - great game to start with even if you cant afford other titles yet. I love the way you can personalise your character with Mii's. I wish that the Wii Sports could be played online as it would be great fun - unfortunately you can't - but still is not disappointing at all.
I love the wifi system built in - with Nintendo you just connect to your Wifi hub and away you go - no need for subscription fees and registration - Wish Sony and XBOX would do the same.
This system is also brilliant to keep fit.
Highly recommended
watch out for the extras January 17, 2010 mobygocrespo (scotland) Most people probably know what they're getting when buying a Wii and there are plenty of comments of graphics limitations etc. although it is capable of some impressive stuff. I'm currenly enjoying Sega Bass Fishing, Mariokart and Okami plus the classic Star Wars Arcade game, a hidden extra on a Gamecube title.
What I find irritating is the need to buy added extras as the console only comes with one controller and nunchuck so you'll probably want the same again which isn't cheap, around £29.99 + £14.99 at the time of writing (Wii Play at £29.99 is one of the most cost effective ways to get an extra controller with some basic games) and gets more expensive if you want improvements such as the motion plus - that's another 2 x £17.99!
The Wii will also play Gamecube games - rather handy but you'll need to buy a Gamecube controller (or two) and a Gamecube memory card (Amazon sells them, you tend to get blank looks asking for them in HMV or Game)- the sd card you've already bought for the Wii won't work with Gamecube games.
You can also download older games from Nintendo but, guess what, most will require you to buy a Classic Controller (or two!) to play them.
It's a good console, probably not for the hard core gamer but it is a lot of fun, definitely one for having a few friends around with the sociable games being relatively basic so easy to pick up and further added extras such as the Wii fit allow you to get more out of it and will extend its shelf life.
Just bear in mind you'll need to keep a wad of cash aside for extra controllers unless you're purely a solo gamer...
Wicked :o) January 13, 2010 Mr. J. S. Bristow (Bristol) I found this console rather good and nice. It's got a really good tennis game. Well smart.
Fine for the elderly January 4, 2010 Guv (UK) I'm not sure if Nintendo even markets this as a games' console anymore, and I doubt there are many gamers who will have splashed out over the odds for this gimmicky piece of cheap plastic tat. As hard as I've tried, I've hardly seen a single game worth playing for anyone other than the very young, the elderly, or people who just don't understand quality gaming. The adverts featuring the twin buffoons that are Ant and Dec demonstrate what the Wii's demographic is, and it's definitely not fans of Modern Warfare, GTA or Metal Gear Solid, IE. games with panache, quality and flare. No, the Wii is a novelty item for people who don't mind dancing around in front of their TVs to rip-off fitness software, or the umpteenth iteration of Mario Kart. Basically, it's the 21st Century's Jane Fonda video with some below par video games tacked on.
