Redding (Walsall, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful STOP! - before paying money to Nintendo or any other authorised Nintendo Wii repair centre, if you're getting disc read errors get one of these. A friend of mine asked me to look at their Wii as I usually help them out with other electronic gadgets when they are having problems, before opting for a more expensive repair I thought I would give the cleaning kit a try. The console I had was constantly attempting to read discs and coming up with the black screen with the Disc Error message, I tried every single game disc I own for the Wii (all of which are in excellent condition with hardly a mark on them) but got the error message each time after the drive attempted to read (it was making quite a lot of noise in the process) I was unsure if this cleaning kit would resolve the issue but for the price thought it was worth a shot.... and guess what, after using it just once the console now reads every disc and has been tested for over 10 hours of play and has not displayed the disc error message since. Give it a go, it might save you a few pounds! Didn't resolve our problem June 16, 2010 MC (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful After having problems loading discs, particularly Super Smash Bros Brawl (probably because it's dual layer), we decided to try this cleaning product based on other reviews. A minimal amount of dirt was on the cleaning pad after use (so it does work as a cleaner) but our Wii is definitely dead. After investigation it turns out the DVD drive has finally packed up, but we're glad we tried this cleaner first as if it had of worked it would have been much cheaper than the alternative (repair or replacement). The cleaner works by putting a couple of drops of cleaning fluid onto a pad, which is on a disc. The disc is then inserted into the console and you gently wiggle it up and down approx 20 times (better instructions are included!). The pack contains replacement pads for further use. Our Wii was one of the first batch in the UK (Dec 2006) and we know 2 others who bought at the same time, plus play as much as we do, and all 3 consoles have experienced DVD drive failures within a month of each other. The only answer for us was a new Wii....but a smart black one this time! Awesome Product!! I ordered this product and cleaned my lens and the Wii has been playing my AC:LGTTC disc perfectly fine since. I'm really happy I paid the price of the product and not the price of a new AC disc as that would've been £30+ I highly recommend this seller and this product! Kinney 1 out of 1 found this review helpful Our Wii was giving read errors onthe disc and had read about this authorised cleaning kit, so decided to give it a go. The actual kit is very easy to use and it did clean the lens great as a lot of dirt was remove, so 10 out of 10 for the product. However I ended up needing to replace the Laser as this turned out to be worn out as per others investigations.I will definitely be buying another kit so I can continue to keep the Wii running without issues.
