Product Description Grab your deck and drop into the extreme speed of downhill racing in Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam.
Amazon.co.uk Review: In a nutshell: The Wii is getting its very own custom made Tony Hawk's game as Activision focuses on racing and proving that the Wii can do next generation graphics that would've been impossible on the GameCube. The lowdown: There have been an awful lot of Tony Hawk's games over the years but they've always been fairly similar in scope with open-ended levels and an emphasis on stunts. This game completely reverses the usual mix as you compete in a variety of downhill events against the clock and other skateboarders. Since it's essentially a race game you hold the Wii Remote horizontally, as in racers such as Excite Truck, while the '1' button is used to grind, the '2' button to jump and the D-pad to select different tricks. It's all surprisingly intuitive and the way that performing tricks feeds your turbo boost bar is a clever mix of risk and reward. Although the tracks are pretty fantastical they're at least based on real cities, with a pleasing amount of shortcuts and secrets in what promises to be another top notch racer for the Wii. Most exciting moment: Although they're all downhill races of some sort the game includes many different types of competitions, from checkpoint races to slaloms and trick races. The most obviously amusing though is the "special" races which task you with knocking down pedestrians and road side bric-a-brac. Since you ask: The game is completely separate to Tony Hawk's Project 8 on the other home consoles. In actual fact it is a homage to the old Electronic Arts game Skate or Die! from 1987, which also features downhill skateboarding and is apparently the real Tony Hawk's favourite ever game. The bottom line: Tony Hawk turns his attention from tricks to racing in this welcome series diversion.-HARRISON DENT

Family Fun December 1, 2008 A. Whitton (Leicester, England) I bought this game for my 11 year old son in August as we didn't have many games for the Wii and this looked like a fun one. We have all enjoyed playing it as a family, I usually get beaten by my 5 year old son. There is so much to unlock in this game that you can keep going for ages. I would highly recommend it for any family or group of friends.
this is real fun !!!!! November 28, 2008 Jacqueline Johnson (strood rochester kent england) THIS GAME IS REALLY GOOD WITH THE TILT CONTROL AND FLICK CONTROLLER UP 2 DO A FRONT FLIP OR BACK 2 DO A BACKFLIP IT REAL GOOD !!!!!!!!
Superb and Addictive!! January 4, 2008 Ms. C. Eastwood (Yorkshire) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
At first glance I wasn't impressed with the game, i usually prefer FPS and action type games! Borrowed this from my niece, thought i'd give it a go, now i'm so glad that i did! Only problem was that i had to buy my own copy! It's challenging, exciting and very addictive! The multiplayer game is great! What more can i say, I love this game! Controls are simple but do take some getting used to! You may find yourself shouting at the TV more often than you would like, but don't forget its not the character its you who is controlling it! Even if you wouldn't normally play this type of game, give it a go! You won't be able to put it down!
Good fun, but nothing new July 10, 2007 James the King (...under the stairs) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is surely among the better launch titles that graced the Wii's debut. It's not like the traditional Tony Hawk games, but it isn't meant to be. Instead of simply pulling off tasks and tricks for no apparent reason, the layout of this game is much akin to the SSX series. There are races and downhill challenges and some trick target games. Sure, it gets a bit repetitive, but it's fun nonetheless. The characters are seriously annoying, but you can, as always, create your own. It doesn't look spectacular, but you're going too fast to notice. At the very least, it's a good way to get into the Wii remote's functionality, as you have to use the motion sensor to steer your skater. As with all the Wii games, it's tough and a bit frustrating at first, but easy enough to pick up after a few tries. Downhill Jam is nothing new, but it is a lot of fun, especially with a group of friends, and at the kind of prices you can get a copy for now, it's certainly well worth buying.
Great multiplayer March 4, 2007 Mark (UK) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
When I first got this game I wasn't to impressed with it. Yes it was good but it didn't blow me away. Then I started playing multiplayer and wow this game suddenly became brilliant. Its well worth a try if your going to play with friends and the single player mode isn't bad just not as fun as it could be.
