really gets ur heart going on those football drills ... have had fun getting my friends to join in with the workout and good even without the wii fit board ..
worth a try!
Loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! July 26, 2010 Caz79 This was exactly what I was looking for a perfect purchase, if you want something that'll get you working, and get results it comes highly recommended by me.
Worth the buy?? June 4, 2010 Z. Chambers (Wellington, NZ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been using the wii fit plus and both EA sport workouts. I think that these are the better of all the wii exercise games. However, I have recently discovered the biggest loser. Initially it is definitely worth the buy - for the exercises. I would say the only real drawback is that you have to play as one of the characters of the game. With wii fit and EA sports you can play as yourself and will record accurate calorie loss. With the biggest loser it does record how many cals you have burnt off during a workout, but it is not accurate i.e., only losing 45 calories after a real sweat busting 30 min workout?? Come on! Anyways, well worth the £10 just to exercise to.
The biggest loser (of money)! May 17, 2010 T. Beasley (s.w .england) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Well,i am on a weight loss journey at the moment and doing very well,i am one of these people who can not afford the gym so i am doing it on the wii.
so i bought the biggest looser thinking another fitness game to keep me going so i dont get to board with the same old ones! and well i have only played it 3 times and 2 of them were just to check to see if i was missing something!!!(no really)
you cant be your own "person" on there you have to be one of the winners from the usa version of it which is very anoying and there are not many (6 i think))acuall "sort of workouts"the same thing repeating over and over and over again!
If i had of known this i would definatly not have bought this! so basically if you want a free dust collector please do ask!! lol
by the way if you are looking for a GOOD weight loss game i would recomend ea sports active(and more workouts)they are great!
Good workouts April 29, 2010 Lesley (Newcastle upon Tyne) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
There are very good workouts on this Wii game, but you still have to know where to position the remote, as you could be doing the actual exercise correctly - say, a side lunge and you have to tap your opposite hand to the floor next to your foot that you have lunged, and because your remote doesn't seem to be in the right place, it doesn't connect, so you don't get any or all of the 5 icons that seem to light up for each exercise - and there is an issue of where do you put the remote when it asks you to put it in your pocket for, say, when you are trying to do the plank or yoga poses - I don't have pockets in any of my workout gear? It would help if you could be shown what to do (how to place the remote, for example, as well as how to do the exercises correctly - EA Sports Active has this facility).
The other issue I have is that you could be doing a half hour workout, and you only seem to have burned 70 calories - excluding the warm up and cooldown which calculate these separately - doesn't seem right when you are knackered and worked up a real sweat during a cardio workout. When I have used EA Sports Active for a half hour workout, it can say that I have burned between 150-200 calories - depending on whether it is cardio-based. I have come to the conclusion that neither of these are accurate - maybe it is somewhere inbetween -but I think the only way you can accurately calculate calories burned is with a heart monitor.
The last issue I have is that you cannot pick your own avatar. You have to pick one of the contestants that have been on the show, and it shows their weight loss when you go through the weigh-in at the end of the week and while you are doing the weekly challenge.
Apart from the above, it does give you a very good workout. I picked the 4 week challenge, inputted all my info - weight, height etc, and it created a 4 week package for me to do - so there were full body, upper body, lower body & yoga exercises on alternative days - you can also pick whether you want light, moderate, hard, challenging or intense workouts. Once you have picked a workout, it can be 2 or 3 circuits - so you do a circuit of squats, lunges, jumping jacks etc, then it takes you back to the beginning, and you start again. You had to pick which days of the week you wanted to do, and pick either Bob or Jillian (the trainers on the show). It is best to pick Bob, as if you pick Jillian, you get her avatar, but with 1 or 2 phrases, you still get Bob's voice for most of it - quite confusing when you get both of them talking to you - but if you pick Bob, you don't get Jillian's voice as well, so that's better for me. There can be a few phrases that don't seem to be linked to the right setting, for example, you could be at the end of a particular exercise, and Bob will say: "Keep going" - or you could be doing a cooldown and he says: "Look at me, I am out of breath!" Make sure that you are happy with the amount of workouts you have put in to the calendar for each week - as you may not be able to change these. There are 4 weeks', 8 weeks' and 12 weeks' challenges.
On the last day of the week, it has weekly challenges, your avatar could be going across a tightrope and it means that you have to do mountain climbers - high knees with alternate arms reaching up to the sky - if I remember rightly, I think I had to do these 4 times to see if I won the challenge - as it would show the other contestants on a chart each time - and it would put you at the top or lower, depending on how hard you tried - and then it goes to the weekly weigh-in - where you either input your weight (if you have lost any) or stand on the balance board. You may have lost 2lbs in that week, it asks you to input this, then it does its dramatic bit (you are watching the contestant on the screen) then it says that the contestant has lost 9lbs - then you have to wait and see if that is more or less what the other contestants have lost and to see if you are eliminated. It should be your own avatar up there, not a previous contestant, and it should be your weight up there - plus you should be given the option to go up against your own family and friends. I don't see how it can work out that you can be eliminated from your own game against computer avatars.
On the fitness program it has worked out for you, you also have to input how many calories you have eaten during that day, and you can also input how many extra minutes you have exercised for on some other exercise.
There are also helpful hints and tips which pop up for you - although you may find that there isn't actually that many when you see the same tip come up time after time - these are random - but you can also click onto Bob and Jillian's videos giving you tips and there are also recipes on there - I haven't mentioned much about these - because I don't use them - I am more interested in the workouts - but it is useful to have a look.
Anyway, I hope the above makes sense to you. Apart from a few issues, as a workout alone, it will give you a very good workout and make you sweat.
