It's the game that never should've worked. Normal licensed games are usually bad enough but the game of the toy of the film? Clearly the Force was with developer Traveller's Tales though because Lego Star Wars I and II were huge critical and commercial hits that showed that not only could licensed games be good but that titles aimed at kids and the family could be just as innovative and entertaining as any other. Clearly not wishing for any of the new consoles to miss out on the fun this is a compendium of both games with a bunch of new extras thrown in on top. Together the two games cover both the prequel and original trilogy, with each film given six separate levels of its own, one of which is vehicle based. The rest of the levels though are deceptively simple action adventures with a built-in co-operative mode that anyone can join in and leave whenever they want. The combat is simple enough that anyone can play and you never really die, leaving the most complex part of the gameplay the always cleverly designed puzzles. For this special version of the games extra levels have been added in (including the Zam Wessell chase from Attack of the Clones) as well as new bonus missions, ten new bounty hunter missions and the ability to play any of the characters in any of the levels. Add in a new online co-op mode for the PS3 and 360 and this really is the complete saga.

This is a really fun game. It is cool. You can do fun things on it like fly in a ship and fight. And this came does not have villains. This is only for children.

my boys, aged 6 and 4, think this is the best thing ever made, and now have the star wars lego t-shirts, they're crazy about it. i should say that i, aged 32, also think its good fun

As a child of the 70s/80s who spent most of his time either playing with Lego or Starwars toys, this game really is a double whammy of nostalgia. I love it! There's so much to talk about, I don't really no where to begin! The only slight let down for some people seems to be the lack of Wii Motion controlled light-sabre fights. Now I didn't buy the game with this expectation, so I wasn't particularly disappointed.
What you do get is the ability to re-enact key scenes from each of the six Star Wars films. You start off at Mos Eisley Cantina Bar from where you can wonder around, start random fights etc. The absolute coolest thing about this game is the sound effects - taken straight from the films. Everything from the epic music to the whir of the light sabre is totally authentic. In each level within each film (and there are about six for each film) you get at least two characters. For example it might be Obi Wan and a Droid. With Obi Wan you can walk around and "use the force" on things whether it's enemy droids, switches or big Lego blocks that need moving around. A simple press of C switches between the different characters, so that the droid can hover over danger or open a locked door. A combination of the different character's skills will allow you to solve simple puzzles and progress through the different levels.
I say you don't get any Motion Control. It's not technically true. You can shake the Wii Remote to wave your light-sabre, but it seems something of an after-thought and to be honest you're better off using the buttons. Even without Motion Control, Light-sabre fights are an absolute ball - there are about half-a-dozen combination moves that you can pull off and the excellent, authentic sound effects in my opinion make up for any shortcomings. Different characters have blasters, a young Anakin Skywalker has no weapons, but he can crawl through really small spaces - which proves a useful skill.
The graphics are pretty good throughout. The Lego license adds some humour, although certain parts of the game are still actually quite dark and moody - take the Darth Maul chapter for example. If it was a movie, it would be described as containing scenes of "mild peril". The cut scenes in Story Mode are not particularly spectacular to look at, but they are often quite funny. One frustrating thing is that you can't skip them, you're forced to watch them over an over. Once you've finished a level in Story Mode, you can go back in Free Play mode and take characters that you've encountered in different levels / films with you. This is a really nice touch and enables you to unlock parts of the level that you couldn't reach with the original characters.
I really recommend this game to any Starwars fans - young or old! It's just soooooo much fun!

My two sons 4 and 5 years old love this game. We have other games like Mario Kart etc. but this is their favorite game. They are 27% through the game and have played in ca. 26 hours all together !!! So You get a lot for the money. They also learn from the game. for example when You collecting "money" You can then buy things. And no money, no buying. Every where there are hidden treasures and 1 lane they can go through many times and still finding new things. There are fighting with sword and guns but there is no blood and "killing", it is Lego falling apart. And when they have won a lane they can buy the "bad super guy" and use him in "free Game", so the mean and evil side going to be the good side.
It is a 1-player game but two player is also working but not so good, they will both be the one who choose the way/direction to go and that give some problems. There are standing "from 3 years" on the box but I recommend a little older there is a lot to learn and collect. The game is in english and danish.

Dare I say it I think this game is actually educational. My son started to play it when he was 3 - now at 4 he's finished the complete game on his own (including the puzzles) and his hand-eye coordination has improved dramatically.
Also it's fun for some of us older gamers to jump in and play with the youngsters and this game is very easy to pick, and drop out when you need to. It's great value also, as it takes quite a while to complete and the replay value is high.
It's also great to see the classic moments from the movies faithfully re-enacted in Lego. Definitely the best Wii title we have.
